Prohibits local governmental units from enacting or enforcing ordinances that control the amount of rent charged for private residential property.

Prevents local units from restricting landlords' ability to obtain and use tenant or prospective tenant information including monthly household income, occupation, rental history, credit history, publicly accessible court records, and Social Security numbers for lease eligibility determination.

Prohibits local ordinances from limiting how far back landlords may consider a prospective tenant's credit history, conviction record, or previous rental history when determining lease eligibility.

Prevents local units from prohibiting landlords from entering rental agreements with prospective tenants during current tenancy or from showing rental units to prospective tenants during current occupancy.

Voids any ordinances enacted before or after this law's effective date that conflict with these provisions.
