Amends MCL 712A.17 of the Probate Code to update references to jury procedures in child welfare proceedings, changing references from MCL 600.1376 to MCL 600.1372 and from MCL 768.36 to MCL 768.37.

Replaces "upon" with "on" and "shall" with "must" throughout the statute for grammatical consistency.

Adds clarifying language that courts must consider "all of" the following factors when determining whether to close hearings to protect juvenile witnesses or victims.

Takes effect 1 year after enactment, contingent upon passage of HB 5689 or Senate Bill No. ____ of the 102nd Legislature.

Updates references to the "family independence agency" to "department" throughout Section 17 of Chapter XIIA.
