Allows interior designers that prepare interior technical submissions in the practice of interior design to submit building permit applications for residential buildings or structures, alongside existing authorized professionals like architects, engineers, and builders.

Requires interior designers applying for building permits on residential work to provide occupational license numbers, expiration dates, worker's disability compensation insurance information, employer identification numbers, and Michigan employment security commission employer numbers, consistent with requirements for other licensed trades.

Adds definitions of "interior designer," "interior technical submission," and "practice of interior design" by reference to section 2015 of the occupational code (MCL 339.2015).

Makes technical changes throughout the statute replacing "shall" with "must" and updating references to the skilled trades regulation act and occupational code sections.

Effective only if Senate Bill No. ____ or House Bill No. 5960 is enacted into law.
