MI HB6005

Amends the Age of Majority Act of 1971 to clarify that individuals 18 years of age or older have full legal capacity and duties equivalent to those formerly acquired at age 21.

Specifies that courts may order support payments for individuals 18 years of age or older under enumerated family and support statutes including the Child Custody Act of 1970, Family Support Act, and Paternity Act.

Supersedes all state laws prescribing different duties, liabilities, rights, and legal capacity for individuals aged 18-20 compared to those 21 years of age, with exceptions listed in subsection (1).

Excludes the Nicotine and Tobacco Act (1915 PA 31) from the age of majority provisions, preserving age restrictions for tobacco and nicotine products.

Takes effect only upon enactment of Senate Bill No. ____ or House Bill No. 6004 by the 102nd Legislature.
