HB 6075 Summary

• Modifies the Michigan energy assistance program under 2012 PA 615 to change the annual report deadline from December 1 to March 1, 2027, beginning with the program year that starts October 1, 2025.

• Requires the Department of Human Services to develop and distribute a simplified, single application for all applicants to use when applying for energy assistance under the program.

• Mandates that energy assistance prioritize vulnerable populations and include services to help participants achieve self-sufficiency, such as bill payment assistance, budgeting support, and referrals to weatherization programs.

• Directs the department to notify program participants about their eligibility for additional services including energy waste reduction products and home weatherization assistance.

• Takes effect April 2, 2025, contingent upon enactment of Senate Bills 353, 880, and 881 in the 102nd Legislature.
