MI HB6184

Prohibits firearm industry members from knowingly or recklessly creating, maintaining, or contributing to a public nuisance through unlawful or unreasonable conduct in the sale, manufacture, importing, or marketing of firearm-related products.

Requires firearm industry members to establish and implement reasonable controls regarding manufacture, sale, distribution, use, and marketing of firearm products, including preventing sales to straw purchasers, traffickers, prohibited persons, and those at substantial risk of harm.

Allows the Michigan Attorney General to pursue injunctions, abatement orders, restitution, compensatory and punitive damages, and attorney fees against firearm industry members for violations.

Permits persons damaged by violations to pursue civil actions for injunctive relief, compensatory and punitive damages, and attorney fees; requires notification to the Attorney General within 5 days of filing such complaints.

Establishes that plaintiffs need not prove intent to cause nuisance or harm, and that harm to the public is a proximate cause if reasonably foreseeable regardless of intervening unlawful third-party actions; takes effect only if HB 6185 is enacted.
