Department of Education must develop age-appropriate informational material on sexual assault and sexual harassment by June 1, 2024, in consultation with sexual assault experts and the Michigan domestic and sexual violence prevention and treatment board.

Informational material must include definitions of sexual assault and harassment, clarification that assault/harassment is not the victim's fault, and resources including Title IX information and assistance organizations.

School districts, intermediate school districts, and public school academies must distribute the material to all students in grades 6-12 and include Title IX coordinator contact information and school policies prohibiting retaliation for reporting in student handbooks and websites.

Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, schools are encouraged to partner with local domestic violence organizations to provide educators and school personnel training at least every 5 years on responding to students who experienced sexual assault or harassment.

Act takes effect October 10, 2023.
