Pharmacists may order and administer qualified immunizing agents (vaccines) to individuals 3 years of age or older without physician direction, provided they complete an approved training program.

Pharmacists must inform patients under 19 years old about the Vaccines for Children Program and local participating providers if the pharmacy does not participate in the program.

Pharmacists may order and administer waived laboratory tests (COVID-19, influenza, respiratory infections) using nasal/throat swabs or finger pricks, and may dispense antiviral drugs based on positive test results without a prescription.

Pharmacists administering vaccines to adults (20 years or older) must report the administration to the Michigan care improvement registry within 72 hours.

Pharmacists must complete approved training programs demonstrating knowledge of vaccine administration and laboratory test interpretation before providing these services under the new provisions.
