Requires each hospital to create and maintain accurate records of direct care registered professional nurse-to-patient ratios in each unit for each shift

Records must document the number of patients in each unit and the identity and duty hours of each direct care registered professional nurse assigned to each patient for each shift

Hospitals must retain these records for a minimum of 3 years

Hospitals must make records available to the Michigan Department of Health, registered professional nurses, collective bargaining representatives, and the public under rules established by the department

Effective date is 90 days after enactment into law
