Allows parents or legal guardians to request that their child be retained in the same grade level for the following school year, beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.

Requires written requests for grade retention to be submitted by July 1 of the year preceding enrollment; requests submitted after July 1 but before the first day of school may be approved at the school's discretion.

School districts, intermediate school districts, and public school academies must notify parents by June 14 each year of their right to request grade retention, including applicable deadlines.

Maintains existing parental rights to review curriculum and teaching materials, and to observe instructional activities in their child's classes.

School boards may adopt reasonable policies or guidelines that do not unreasonably prevent exercise of these parental rights or create obstacles to teaching, learning, or school discipline.
