Prohibits local units of government from enacting or enforcing laws, ordinances, policies, or rules that restrict peace officers or local officials from communicating or cooperating with federal officials about individuals' immigration status.

Requires local units of government to bring existing violations into compliance within 60 days of the act's effective date.

Allows residents of affected local units of government to file private lawsuits in circuit court or complaints with the attorney general starting 61 days after the effective date.

Authorizes the attorney general to investigate violations and bring enforcement actions in circuit court if local units of government enact or enforce violating laws or policies.

Mandates courts to issue injunctions, order repeal or amendment of violating policies, and award actual damages, costs, and reasonable attorney fees to prevailing parties.
