Removes temporary sunset provision ("before July 1, 2024") from teacher probationary period requirements, making permanent the standard that teachers must be rated effective or highly effective on 3 recent year-end evaluations and complete at least 5 full school years before achieving continuing tenure

Allows teachers rated highly effective on 3 consecutive evaluations to achieve continuing tenure after 4 full school years instead of 5, provided this pathway meets the effective or highly effective rating requirement

Protects probationary teachers rated effective or highly effective from displacement by teachers with continuing tenure status

Replaces "needing-support" rating terminology with "ineffective or minimally effective" for teacher performance evaluations

Excludes discontinuance or reduction of performance-based compensation under MCL 380.1250a from the definition of "demotion"

Takes effect July 1, 2024, contingent on Senate Bill No. 797 of the 102nd Legislature being enacted
