Increases the maximum number of licensed hospital beds for extended care services programs from 10 to 25 beds for hospitals meeting specified criteria.

Removes the annual patient day cap of 1,825 patient days for extended care services programs, eliminating subsection (3)(e).

Expands the definition of "extended care services program" to include behavioral health services in addition to extended care services provided through swing beds under federal law.

Removes the requirement that hospitals report total extended care services patient days to the department, while maintaining other reporting requirements on patient admissions and care types.

Makes technical amendments including replacing "shall" with "must" throughout the section and updating references to federal law and gender-neutral language.
