Replaces mandatory language ("shall") with "must" throughout Section 227 of the Michigan Vehicle Code for consistency with modern drafting standards.

Allows the Secretary of State to accept vehicle policy information transmitted directly from insurers as proof of insurance for registration renewal, with transmission frequency not required more frequently than every 14 days.

Designates vehicle policy information submitted by insurers as confidential and exempt from the Freedom of Information Act, with disclosure only permitted to the Department of Community Health for no-fault purposes or by court order for claims or fraud investigations.

Authorizes the Secretary of State to issue temporary registration permits without charge to applicants whose current registration expires before receiving their registration plate, valid for 60 days or until the plate is received, whichever occurs first.

Defines "policy information" as information required from automobile insurers under Section 3101a of the Insurance Code of 1956.
