Health plans and nonprofit dental care corporations must provide one or more payment or reimbursement methods that allow dentists to receive 100% of the payable amount without incurring fees to access payment (excluding fees from the dentist's own financial institution).

A dentist's decision to opt out of a payment method remains in effect until the dentist opts back into the prior method or a new contract is executed.

"Health plan" is defined as that term is defined in section 2006 of the Insurance Code.

The amendments apply to dental benefits policies delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed in Michigan after the effective date of the law.
