Maintains existing requirements for out-of-state teachers with 3+ years of successful teaching experience to obtain Michigan certification without passing state examinations or completing additional reading credits

Preserves the requirement that teachers complete a 3-credit course on diagnosing and remediating reading disabilities before advancing to professional certification

Continues allowing teachers to use time spent engaging with local employers or technical centers toward teaching certificate renewal as professional development

Makes technical and grammatical changes throughout the statute, including updating gendered language to gender-neutral terms
