Amends the Michigan Insurance Code's definition of "health benefit plan" to exclude coverage for "excepted benefits" as described in federal law (42 USC 300gg-91), replacing a more specific list of exclusions

The previous law specifically excluded accident-only, credit, dental, disability income, long-term care insurance, liability supplement coverage, specified disease coverage, worker's compensation, and automobile medical-payment insurance

Updates several technical citation corrections throughout the bill, including fixing typographical errors in references to the Internal Revenue Code (26 USC 4980H)

Updates the reference to Medicaid provisions from 42 USC 1396w-5 to 1396w-6 and removes redundant statutory citation language

The bill only takes effect if the companion bill (SB ____ or HB 4208) is also enacted into law
