Requires the Michigan Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Natural Resources, to adopt a model firearm safety instruction program for grades 6-12 by September 1, 2025

Firearm safety instruction must cover proper usage and handling, safe cleaning and maintenance, different types of firearms, and safe hunting practices, taught by certified hunter education instructors

Prohibits firearms or ammunition from being brought into school buildings as part of the instruction

School districts and public school academies may offer the program as an optional extracurricular class or incorporate it into existing courses for teaching self-expression and recreational activity

Students who complete the instruction satisfy the hunter safety course requirement for obtaining a Michigan hunting license, and students may opt out without penalty upon request from the student or parent
