Prohibits cities, villages, townships, and charter townships from enacting or enforcing laws, ordinances, policies, or rules that limit local officials, peace officers, or employees from communicating or cooperating with federal officials about individuals' immigration status

Requires local governments with existing sanctuary-type policies to bring them into compliance within 60 days of the act's effective date; any violating policies are declared void and unenforceable

Allows residents to sue their local government in circuit court or file complaints with the attorney general beginning 61 days after the act takes effect

Mandates the attorney general to investigate complaints and bring enforcement actions against non-compliant local governments

Courts finding a violation must issue injunctions, order repeal of the policy, and award actual damages, costs, and attorney fees to the challenger; if no violation is found, the local government receives costs and attorney fees
