MI HB4552

Prohibits the Michigan Department of Health from promulgating or enforcing rules that allow local health officers to exclude unvaccinated or susceptible students from schools as a disease control measure (except during epidemics)

Rescinds R 325.175 of the Michigan Administrative Code, which currently allows exclusion of susceptible individuals from schools when communicable diseases are present

Bars the department and local health departments from imposing vaccination exemption requirements beyond what is already in statute, including requiring exemptions to be on department-prescribed forms

Preserves existing exemptions allowing parents to opt out of child immunizations through a physician certification of medical concerns or a written statement citing religious convictions or other objections

Requires the department, when providing public information about exemptions, to also include information about the effectiveness and potential risks of immunizations

Takes effect 90 days after enactment, contingent on passage of companion bill SB ____ or HB 4553
