Adds county medical examiners, deputy county medical examiners, and medical examiner investigators to the "line of duty" definition, covering actions they are obligated or authorized to perform by law, rule, regulation, or employment conditions

Makes these newly included positions eligible for death and disability benefits available to public safety officers killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty

Updates gender-neutral language throughout the statute, replacing terms like "husband or wife" with "spouse" and "he or she" with "the officer"
