Covered procedures include electrosurgery (using electric current to cut, remove, or destroy tissue), laser procedures, and any other procedures using heat-generating surgical instruments

Surgical smoke plume is defined as vapor, gas, or harmful particles produced as a byproduct of heat-producing surgical equipment

Evacuation systems must capture, transport, filter, and neutralize surgical smoke at the point of origin before it can contact eyes or respiratory tracts of individuals in the operating environment
