Requires the Michigan Department of Education to assign letter grades (A, B, C, D, or F) to each public school beginning with the 2026-2027 school year and annually thereafter

Schools will be graded on pupil proficiency in mathematics and English language arts based on the percentage achieving proficiency on state assessments

Schools will be evaluated on student growth in math and English language arts, including measures from the state's value-added growth analytics system and progress toward proficiency within 3 years for non-proficient students

English language learner progress toward English proficiency will be measured as required under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act

High school graduation rates and academic performance compared to schools serving similar pupil populations based on demographic factors will also factor into the grading system
