Raises the cost threshold for exempting school construction, reconstruction, or remodeling projects from state building regulation requirements from $15,000 to $5,000,000

Eliminates the requirement to employ a registered architect or engineer for school building projects costing less than $5,000,000 (previously $15,000), though plans must still be submitted for approval

Maintains requirements for one-story school buildings and additions to submit plans to the bureau of fire services and superintendent of public instruction for approval

Removes a provision that previously applied security device requirements (section 1(1)(d)) to all school construction regardless of cost

Retains existing requirements for buildings converted to school use and buildings substantially destroyed by fire or catastrophe
