Expands the jurisdiction of commissioned sergeants at arms and assistant sergeants at arms to provide security for legislators, their family members, and staff at locations throughout the state when related to threats or crimes connected to official legislative duties

Authorizes sergeants at arms to provide security at events attended by legislators in their official capacity and to investigate threats or crimes committed against legislators

Requires approval from the senate majority leader or speaker of the house before sergeants at arms can provide security or conduct investigations outside standard legislative locations (capitol, legislative offices, parking areas)

Mandates coordination with other state or local law enforcement agencies when sergeants at arms investigate threats or crimes against legislators

Requires supervisors of the sergeants at arms to report at least once per legislative session to the standing committees on government operations and oversight regarding their activities and security matters
