Adds letter carriers employed by or under contract with the United States Postal Service to the list of protected persons under Michigan's assault and obstruction law (MCL 750.81d)

Assaulting, battering, obstructing, or endangering a letter carrier while performing their duties would become a felony punishable by up to 2 years imprisonment and/or a $2,000 fine

Offenses causing bodily injury requiring medical attention increase penalties to up to 4 years imprisonment and/or $5,000 fine; serious bodily impairment carries up to 15 years and/or $10,000 fine

Causing the death of a protected person while they perform duties is punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment and/or $20,000 fine

The bill takes effect 90 days after enactment into law
