Expands acceptable clean drinking water solutions in Michigan schools beyond filtered bottle-filling stations to include certified lead-free fixtures with PEX piping, central reverse osmosis systems, and other filtration systems meeting NSF/ANSI standards 53 and 42 with lead levels at or below 5 parts per billion.

Schools using certified lead-free fixtures or alternative compliant filtration systems are exempt from annual water sampling and testing requirements and are not required to install filtered bottle-filling stations.

Adds definitions for central reverse osmosis systems, certified lead-free fixtures, certified local contractors, local health departments, and PEX piping to the Clean Drinking Water Access Act.

Establishes January 14, 2025 as the deadline for schools to develop drinking water management plans and allows schools to consult with local health departments or certified local contractors during plan development.

Clarifies that schools are not required to comply with or incur costs under the act unless the legislature appropriates sufficient funds.
