Cites recent acts of political violence including the attempted assassination of President Trump (July 13, 2024), the assassination of Charlie Kirk (September 10, 2025), the killing of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman (June 14, 2025), and the arson at Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's residence (April 13, 2025)

References historical attacks on members of Congress, including Representative Gabrielle Giffords (2011), Representative Steve Scalise (2017), and the attack on Paul Pelosi (2022), as well as the 2020 kidnapping plot against Governor Whitmer

Notes that the U.S. is experiencing its highest level of political violence since the 1970s, with approximately 150 politically motivated attacks recorded in the first half of 2025—nearly double the same period in 2024
