Michigan House Resolution urges the Trump-Vance Administration to stop threats and coercive rhetoric toward Denmark regarding Greenland and instead pursue diplomacy respecting sovereignty and international law

Greenland is a mostly autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark; any change in political status must be determined by the democratic will of Greenlandic people without external coercion

The resolution states the Administration has suggested purchasing Greenland, attempted covert influence campaigns to convince Greenland to leave Denmark, and President Trump has not ruled out military force to seize the territory

Denmark is a founding NATO member and longstanding U.S. ally; the resolution warns that threats toward a NATO ally undermine alliance cohesion, weaken deterrence, and risk emboldening adversaries

Copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to the President, Vice President, Secretary of State, Danish Ambassador, NATO Secretary General, and Michigan's congressional delegation
