Allows parents or legal guardians to opt their grade 11 or 12 students out of the workforce readiness assessment portion of the Michigan Merit Examination beginning with the 2026-2027 school year

Requires the waiver to be signed by a parent or legal guardian and submitted to the school district, intermediate school district, or public school academy by February 28 of the school year the test will be administered

Mandates the Department of Education develop and post the waiver form on its website and create an informational letter about the purpose and benefits of the workforce readiness assessment

Requires schools to distribute the informational letter to all eligible students and their parents or guardians by December 31 of the school year the test will be administered

Requires the department to consult with representatives from business, manufacturing, and skilled trades organizations in developing the informational letter
