Divides Michigan into 8 geographic regions for nominating candidates to the State Board of Education, with each political party required to nominate candidates from specific regions on a rotating 8-year cycle

Region assignments include: Upper Peninsula counties (Region 1), northern Lower Peninsula counties (Region 2), west-central counties including Kent and Ottawa (Region 3), thumb/Saginaw Bay area (Region 4), southwest counties (Region 5), south-central counties including Washtenaw and Ingham (Region 6), Macomb and Oakland counties (Region 7), and Wayne County alone (Region 8)

Establishes a staggered nomination schedule starting in 2026, with Regions 4 and 8 in 2026, Regions 6 and 7 in 2028, Regions 1 and 2 in 2030, and Regions 3 and 5 in 2032, then repeating every 8 years

Current board members serving terms when the law takes effect may still be nominated regardless of regional residency requirements

Takes effect 90 days after enactment into law
