Public and nonpublic schools are prohibited from unenrolling a student solely because another school requested the student's records

Schools cannot unenroll a student until receiving written confirmation that the student has enrolled at a new school

Written enrollment confirmation must include the student's full name, date of birth, grade level at the new school, and the receiving school's name and address

Confirmation must also include the official enrollment date and a signature from an authorized official at the receiving school verifying enrollment
