Joint conventions of the Michigan Senate and House of Representatives shall be held in the Hall of the House of Representatives, or another location agreed upon by the Speaker and Senate Majority Leader

The President of the Senate presides over joint conventions, with the Speaker of the House presiding in the President's absence; when the Speaker presides, they may vote on all occasions with ties resulting in a lost question

The Secretary of the Senate and Clerk of the House serve as secretaries, with proceedings published in the House Journal and final results entered in the Senate Journal

House of Representatives rules govern joint convention proceedings, and conventions have the power to compel attendance of absent members using each house's respective penalties and Sergeants at Arms

Joint conventions may adjourn as necessary, with both chambers required to prepare for or attend conventions at times fixed by law, resolution, or previous adjournment
