Requires automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) on premises of all state, municipal, and local government buildings with more than 25 people working in the building, effective January 1, 2012.

Mandates AEDs in apartment buildings containing more than 72 rental units or as part of a complex with 72 or more rental units.

Requires AEDs in all public or private nursing homes and all veterans homes.

Directs the commissioner to adopt rules in consultation with the Department of Health addressing AED training, device type, placement, inspection procedures, and maintenance.

Defines "automatic external defibrillator" according to section 604A.01 of Minnesota Statutes.
