Retailers must post a notice at least 8-1/2 inches by 11 inches in a clearly visible location stating the battery surcharge requirement, the recycling symbol, and that improper disposal of a lead acid battery is a crime.

Newspaper advertisements for new lead acid batteries must include notice that at least a $10 additional charge applies unless a used battery is returned, and that improper disposal of a lead acid battery is a crime.
