State must pay participants in the national school lunch program 12 cents for each full-paid, reduced, and free student lunch served to students each school year.

Districts are eligible for an additional 15 cents per lunch if the school lunch program exceeds federal nutrition standards and implements requirements including offering at least three different fruits and vegetables daily with at least one fresh option, whole grain items at least three days per week, and healthier a la carte choices.

Districts are eligible for an additional 5 cents per lunch each month if a majority of ingredients purchased that month were grown or produced in Minnesota and the district can document this sourcing.

Appropriations from the general fund to the Department of Education are designated for nutrition enhancement program funding according to Minnesota Statutes section 124D.111, subdivision 1, paragraph (b) for fiscal years 2010 and 2011.

The school lunch aid computation section is effective for fiscal year 2010 and later.
