Amends Minnesota Statutes 2009 Supplement, section 261.035 regarding cremation, burial, and funerals at county expense.

County boards must investigate whether a deceased person had prepaid funeral arrangements and sufficient means to cover funeral expenses before paying for services.

Expands responsibility to include adult children with sufficient financial ability to pay for burials, in addition to spouses.

County boards shall pay for cremation and burial if the deceased lacked sufficient means and no spouse or adult child of sufficient ability is willing to procure the burial.

County boards must ensure any burial, funeral, or final disposition respects the deceased's personal preferences, faith tradition practices, and preferences of the spouse or next of kin.
