Expands ex parte order protections to include excluding the abusing party from a reasonable area surrounding the dwelling or residence, with the specific area to be described in the court order.

Court may grant ex parte orders for protection upon finding immediate and present danger of domestic abuse, including restraining the abusing party, excluding from shared dwelling, and limiting employment access.

Ex parte order remains effective for a fixed period set by the court or until modified or vacated, with the respondent having the right to request a hearing within five days of service.

Personal service of the ex parte order is required, or the order expires if not personally served within 14 days of issuance; service by published notice is permitted if an affidavit is filed and personal service is not completed within 28 days.

Court finding of basis for issuing an ex parte protection order constitutes sufficient reason to waive notice requirements under applicable court rules.
