Amends Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 641.12, subdivision 3, to modify inmate payment requirements for room and board in county jails, workhouses, and correctional facilities.

Allows county boards to require persons convicted of crimes and confined to county facilities to pay for room, board, clothing, medical, dental, and other correctional services.

Expands charges to include any time for which the person receives credit for time served against the sentence imposed as a result of conviction.

Permits the chief executive officer of the local correctional agency or sheriff to waive costs if the person lacks ability to pay or payment would create undue hardship for the person or their immediate family.

Establishes that if a court orders restitution, the person must pay restitution before costs under this subdivision, though both can be collected simultaneously if the person is making reasonable restitution payments.
