Amends Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 126C.17, by adding a new subdivision 9a allowing school boards to renew expiring referendums by board action instead of requiring voter approval.

Permits renewal only if the per pupil amount remains the same as the expiring referendum.

Requires the term of the renewed referendum to be no longer than the initial term approved by voters.

Mandates the school board adopt a written resolution authorizing the renewal after holding a public meeting and allowing public testimony on the proposed renewal.

Effective July 1, 2010.
