Amends Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 169.685, subdivision 6 to add exceptions to child passenger restraint requirements for school buses.

Exempts persons operating school buses from child passenger restraint system requirements.

Exempts persons operating type III vehicles (as defined in section 169.011, subdivision 71, paragraph h) that meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 222 seating and crash protection requirements from child passenger restraint system requirements.

Requires motor vehicle rental or lease companies to provide child passenger restraint devices to customers who request them, with a reasonable rental or fee permitted.

Becomes effective the day following final enactment.
