Amends Minnesota Statutes 2009 Supplement, section 256B.0625, subdivision 49, to add certified paramedics to the definition of eligible community health workers for medical assistance coverage.

Certified paramedics under chapter 144E who complete an accredited college or university curriculum including patient education and chronic disease monitoring are eligible, with skills approved by a physician medical director and within the paramedic's state certification scope.

Community health workers under the experience-based pathway must complete certification by January 1, 2010, to remain eligible for payment.

All community health workers must work under supervision of a medical assistance enrolled physician, registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, mental health professional, certified public health nurse, or dentist.

Care coordination and patient education services covered include, but are not limited to, services relating to oral health and dental care.
