Counties must verify 10 factors at initial child care assistance applications including identity, child presence, relationship, age, immigration status, Social Security number, income, support payments, residence, and inconsistent information.

Eligibility must be redetermined at least every six months, with a simplified rededetermination form and change report form to minimize paperwork.

For families where at least one parent is under age 21, lacks a high school diploma or equivalent, and is a student in a school district program providing child care, parenting, social services, career and employment supports, and academic support, eligibility reredetermination may be deferred up to 12 months until the end of the school year.

Families have primary responsibility to verify information; counties must consider family circumstances and ability to produce verification before requesting it, and must accept signed family statements when other verification is unavailable.

Annual income is calculated using current monthly income multiplied by 12, or the most accurate assessment method, with income recalculation at least every six months, or deferred up to 12 months for the same student populations.
