HF 3267 Summary

• Establishes a 17-member advisory task force on school desegregation and integration to develop recommendations and legislation for amending Minnesota's school desegregation rule and integration revenue allocation under Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.86.

• Task force membership includes the commissioner of education or designee, representatives from Minnesota Indian Affairs Council, Council on Asian-Pacific Minnesotans, Council on Black Minnesotans, Chicano Latino Affairs Council, school district superintendents and board members from urban, suburban, and rural districts, and House and Senate members.

• Task force members shall be appointed by July 1, 2010, and must meet at least monthly to address integrated learning environments, changing student demographics, cultural proficiency training, school choice laws, and resources for staff development and interdistrict initiatives.

• Task force shall submit a report with recommendations and accompanying legislation to legislative committees with jurisdiction over K-12 education by January 15, 2011.

• Task force expires on January 16, 2011; members receive no compensation or reimbursement for service.
