HF3333 Summary

• Adds subdivision 8 to Minnesota Statutes 609.2231 creating a new gross misdemeanor offense for assaulting a vulnerable adult with demonstrable bodily harm, with knowledge or reason to know the person is vulnerable.

• Amends Minnesota Statutes 609.224, subdivision 2 to penalize repeat domestic violence offenses against vulnerable adults within specified timeframes with imprisonment up to one year or fines up to $3,000, or both.

• Repeat violations within ten years of a previous qualified domestic violence-related offense or adjudication of delinquency constitute gross misdemeanor offenses.

• Repeat violations within three years of a previous qualified domestic violence-related offense or adjudication of delinquency also constitute gross misdemeanor offenses with same penalties.

• Provisions are effective August 1, 2010, and apply to crimes committed on or after that date.
