Licensed real property appraiser requires 2,000 hours of experience obtained within 12 months; certified residential appraiser requires 2,500 hours within 24 months; certified general appraiser requires 3,000 hours within 30 months with at least 50 percent (1,500 hours) in nonresidential appraisal work

Applicants must provide detailed listings of real estate appraisal reports and file memoranda supporting claimed experience, with sample appraisal reports available for commissioner examination upon request

College or university real estate degree programs physically located in Minnesota may receive retroactive prelicense education credit if approved by the Appraisal Qualifications Board and commissioner approval matches the board's degree program approval

Applicants may not receive credit for experience accumulated while unlicensed if the experience required a license; all experience must be obtained after January 30, 1989, and must be USPAP compliant
