Modifies the definition of "sex trafficking" in Minnesota Statutes 2009 Supplement, section 609.321, subdivision 7a to include four categories: receiving, recruiting, enticing, harboring, providing, or obtaining individuals to engage in commercial sex acts; receiving profit from such acts; inducing individuals through force, fraud, or coercion to engage in commercial sex acts; and inducing individuals under age 18 to engage in commercial sex acts.

Removes language referring to "aid in the prostitution of the individual" and replaces it with "engage in a commercial sex act" as part of the sex trafficking definition.

Defines "commercial sex act" as a sex act on account of which anything of value is given or received by any person in Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 609.321, subdivision 15.

Both sections become effective August 1, 2010, and apply to crimes committed on or after that date.
