Reduces the statute of limitations for certain civil actions in Minnesota from six years to four years under Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 541.05, subdivision 1.

Four-year limitation applies to actions on contracts, liabilities created by statute, trespass on real estate, taking or injuring personal property, criminal conversation, fraud, trust enforcement, surety bonds, dam damages, and assault or battery related to domestic abuse.

For fraud cases, the cause of action does not accrue until discovery by the aggrieved party of the facts constituting the fraud.

Effective date is August 1, 2010, and applies to causes of action occurring on or after that date.
