Defines "peace officer" as a licensed, full-power-of-arrest employee of a city with a merit system under Minnesota Statutes chapter 44

Extends probationary period for newly hired peace officers from 6 months to 12 months

Allows summary dismissal of peace officers during probationary period without following standard dismissal procedures, but requires written notice reported to the board

Applies to all peace officers hired under chapter 44 on or after the effective date of March 9, 2010
