Authorizes fire departments to access criminal history data on job applicants and current employees through the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Requires the superintendent of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, in consultation with the state fire marshal, to develop a plan including security procedures and fingerprinting processes for obtaining state and federal criminal history reports for a nominal fee.

Limits use of criminal history data to situations where the data are directly related to the position of employment sought or currently held, considering the nature and seriousness of the offense and its relationship to job duties and fitness requirements.

Requires fire departments to apply uniform access procedures to all applicants and employees, with requests for current employees limited to once per year.
